The starting point for any piece is Lynn’s vision and desire to create harmonious and moving color, pattern, and texture combinations with distinct visual impact. To execute her vision, Lynn selects colored sheets of polymer clay to combine in customized ways to achieve the desired base. Using a variety of techniques, including Mokume Gane, mica manipulation, inlay, and texture relief, Lynn forms the base veneer. In some designs, other elements are added, such as gold leaf, alcohol or acrylic ink, pastels or dichroic fibers. These veneers are then used to create the final piece, such as jewelry, utensils, pens (in collaboration with Lynn’s son, an artist in his own right), wall art, and other pieces. Finishing requires multiple firings, sanding, and buffing.
